Nadia Sawalha might not be a household name in the United States, but she’s part of an acting family in the UK that includes sister Julia Sawalha, uncle Nabil Sawalha and father Nadim Sawalha. Nadia is making news in the UK for the series of videos she’s posting online with her husband, Mark Adderley, that frankly address their struggles with his addiction and depression. As always, we appreciate it when public figures share their mental health issues, because it contributes to lessening the stigmas attached to mental illness and could encourage more people to seek treatment. Here’s an excerpt from a piece about the couple published in The Sun. If you’re in the greater Cleveland area and would like help with depression and/or addiction, we’re here.
Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha and her husband Mark Adderley have detailed his battle with depression and how they tackle the mental illness together in a heartwarming home video.
The upload comes two weeks after they opened up about Mark’s previous alcoholism and his time in rehabilitation centre, The Priory.
Nadia and Mark, who wed in 2002 and have two children, have been praised by followers for their online video series How Are You Feeling – A Daily Diary of Living With Depression and Addiction.
In the latest addition, Mark revealed he struggled to sit in front of the camera and film the discussion.
Nadia said at the start of the video: “You seem to have gone really down in the last hour and a half.”
